Connections: Marketing That Governs How We Connect.
It’s fun to look back and notice that the very mention of the word ‘Marketing’ would cause us to look for the nearest and quickest escape route. Wait!! Please don’t go just yet!! While this page is about marketing, it is also very much about life – so please wait a minute on that escape route – We are sure you won’t be sorry.
It makes perfect sense that we would all have that feeling of needing to escape what with all the examples of how advertising can really mess with our heads and determine how we do things. We get that and to a point we agree. We used to agree whole heartedly however some new information has appeared that has caused us to rethink the whole thing. Want to know what it is?
A Contradiction in Our Culture
If you stop and think about it, you will soon realize that a good deal of living in our culture is about marketing. We all do it and we are exposed to it in almost every imaginable interaction. If you are looking for a mate or looking to have sex with the mate you have, there is some marketing involved. If you want to express an idea in a conversation and successfully have the other person understand, you must market the idea. There is marketing in finding a job or even getting a good grade on a written paper in college. (Ever have a teacher who insisted on every title being underlined? That teacher was making their marketing preferences known up front! How sweet!!)
Here’s the Other Side of the Contradiction
It is inferred and sometimes spoken out right that it is a bad thing to promote oneself in anyway; especially if one is going to receive financial gain from it or one is speaking well of oneself.
If you don’t believe us, take a minute and think about the last movie you saw. We bet you didn’t hesitate once before telling others about that movie; in other words you were marketing the movie (word of mouth is a form of marketing that many industries rely on) for free, on behalf of the movie house that produced it and you did it for free.
Now if you were going to get a piece of the profits for talking about that movie, would it be as easy for you? For most people, the answer is no. Now, does the dread begin to spread when you think about having to promote your own stuff or yourself? If you are not sure, just think of how you felt last time you went for a job interview.
Hopefully, you have got our point now…
Any time a connection with another person is made, some element of self promotion and marketing occurs. The people who know how to promote themselves are the same people with highly successful businesses, get the best promotions in their company and even have the most dates. Self promotion and marketing is a valuable life skill that (in our not so humble opinion) should be taught in schools as a basic like math and reading.
The internet is the most powerful money making tool ever created and it levels the playing field so that anyone can participate. The sad thing is that because we are discouraged from promoting ourselves or anything that we would benefit from, a very tiny percentage of people using the internet, use it to increase their financial abundance. Anyone who takes the time to learn about Marketing and Self Promotion will find success of any kind more easily obtained.
When people are asked ‘what would make your life easier or nicer?’ the number one most common answer is, ‘more money.’ So wouldn’t it make sense to do what you can using the most powerful method of making money ever invented?
The really cool thing is that making connections – and therefore money – on the internet can be as easy as cooking a box of mac and cheese – if you know how. Did you know that playing in forums can earn you extra cash and all it takes is a couple of minutes of extra time? So what if it was so easy that you could make money just doing what you are already doing? Would you take the few minutes to learn?
Yeah we know, there are tons of ebooks and website about this subject out there; we’ve waded through much of it and what we found was that most of the ‘Internet Marketing Pros’ on the internet have ebooks for sale but few will ever disclose how the easy methods are done – they want you to continue to buy their books. The other thing we found was that internet marketing was far more complicated to learn piece meal. If you don’t know what the next step is, how will you know what question to ask? And really, who has time for all of that?
We want to make your journey easy, financially abundant and most importantly, we want to do it for free. Why would we do that? Simply – we’ve made a lot of money on the internet and gotten a lot of help from a lot of really amazing people and it is time for us to give a little back. Besides, it makes us crazy to think how much money is being spent by good folks on ebooks with very little gain.
